Be Sew Bizzy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates besewbizzy.com and the quilt, sewing, and embroidery shop located at 4446 Cerritos Ave, Los Alamitos, CA 90720. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, including:

Name, email address, phone number, and shipping/billing address when you place an order or create an account
Payment card information — processed securely by Square and never stored on our servers
Name and contact details when you register for a class or event
Your email address when you sign up for shop news
Quilts, Design Wall layouts, and thread collections you save while signed in
Any messages you send through our contact form

We also collect limited technical information automatically, such as your browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URL, to help us understand how the site is used. This information is aggregate and does not identify you personally.

How We Use Your Information

To process and fulfill orders, including generating shipping labels and sending tracking updates
To send order confirmations, receipts, redemption codes, download links, and class registration confirmations
To manage class and event waitlists and notify you of openings
To keep your saved designs and collections available when you sign back in
To send shop news, if you have signed up or shopped with us (see Marketing Email below)
To respond to questions and customer service requests
To improve our website and the products and services we offer

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Member Accounts

Member accounts have no password. When you sign in, we email you a one-time code (or a sign-in link) and that is all it takes. Your account keeps together your order history, digital downloads, class and event registrations, saved quilts from the Quilt Designer, Design Wall layouts, and thread collections. You can close your account at any time by contacting us, and we will delete it along with the content saved in it.

Saved Payment Methods

Members may choose to save a card at checkout for faster ordering next time. This is entirely optional. When you do, Square stores the card securely on its own systems — we keep only a Square customer ID that points to it, never the card number. You can remove a saved card from your account page, or ask us to remove it for you.

Marketing Email

Emails about your orders — confirmations, receipts, shipping updates, codes, and downloads — are transactional, and you will receive them whenever you buy something.

Separately, we may send shop news — new fabric, upcoming classes, sales — to customers and to people who sign up for it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe with one click at besewbizzy.com/unsubscribe. Unsubscribing from shop news never affects the emails about your orders.

Third-Party Services

We work with a small number of trusted services to operate our business:

Square — processes all payments and stores any card you choose to save. Your card information goes directly to Square and is subject to Square’s Privacy Policy.
Resend — delivers our email, both transactional (order confirmations, shipping notifications, sign-in codes, class receipts) and marketing (shop news).
PirateShip — generates shipping labels. Recipient name and address are shared for this purpose.
Supabase — our secure database host, located in the United States.
Vercel — hosts the website and provides cookieless analytics: page views, referring site, and device type, with no personal identifiers.
Eventbrite — some of our events are listed there. If you register through Eventbrite, your registration details are handled under Eventbrite’s Privacy Policy.

Cookies and Local Storage

The only cookies our site sets are session cookies that keep you signed in to your member account. If you never sign in, we set no cookies at all.

Your shopping cart is not a cookie. It lives in your browser’s local storage, on your device, and is never sent to us until you check out. Local storage also holds drafts from the Quilt Designer and Design Wall and remembers which banners you have dismissed. Clearing your browser data empties it.

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We do not respond differently to “Do Not Track” browser signals, because we do not track you in the first place.

Data Retention

Order and payment records are kept for 7 years, as tax law requires
Contact form messages are kept for 2 years
Account data and saved content are kept until you ask us to delete them
Analytics data is aggregate only and never tied to an individual

If you would like your information removed from our records, please contact us and we will honor that request to the extent permitted by law.

Security

Everything between your browser and our site is encrypted in transit. Card data is handled only by Square and never touches our servers. Access to customer information is limited to the shop owner.

If we ever learn of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you promptly and in the manner California law requires.

Your California Privacy Rights

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act) gives you rights over your personal information. We honor them for everyone, wherever you live.

Right to know — what we collect about you and why. The categories are: identifiers (name, email, Square customer ID), contact information (phone, shipping and billing address), purchase history, account content (saved quilts, layouts, thread collections, registrations), and device information (browser and device type). We collect them for the purposes described in this policy.
Right to delete — ask us to delete your personal information, subject to the retention rules above
Right to correct — ask us to fix anything inaccurate
Right to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of
Right to non-discrimination — exercising your rights will never change how we treat you or what we charge you

To make a request, email or call us using the details at the bottom of this page. We verify requests by matching the email address on the account or order in question. An authorized agent may make a request on your behalf with your written permission. We respond within 45 days.

Children’s Privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Class registrations for minors are made by a parent or guardian, and it is the parent’s or guardian’s information we keep on file.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
