Our Story
Helping You Love Your Embroidery Machine
A sewing, quilting, and machine embroidery shop in Los Alamitos, CA — built around a simple idea: people should feel comfortable using the machines they already own.
Be Sew Bizzy offers in-person classes in Los Alamitos, virtual classes on Zoom, and online shopping for embroidery fans beyond Southern California. Whether you are brand new to machine embroidery, coming back after a long break, or already deep into Kimberbell, quilting, and embroidery projects, Be Sew Bizzy is here to help you feel more confident, more capable, and less intimidated.
Betty’s Story
Betty bought her first embroidery machine in 1990 and spent years taking classes all over Southern California. Like a lot of embroiderers, she learned by trying, making mistakes, fixing them, and trying again. Over time, she became the person other people trusted when they needed help understanding their machines or rescuing a project that had gone sideways.
After many years doing payroll for local car dealerships, Betty was laid off and decided it was time to work just as hard for herself as she had always worked for everyone else. A local sewing store manager asked her to start teaching — and she was good at it. She went on to spend more than ten years as the lead teacher at the largest Pfaff dealer in Southern California, teaching new owners, specialty projects, machine techniques, and just about everything in between.
After a decade of that, she started Be Sew Bizzy to teach the way she believed it should be done. That teaching background still shapes every part of the shop today. Betty is warm, creative, generous with knowledge, and a problem-solver at heart. She is a teacher first and a shop owner second. Her goal is not to keep sewing and embroidery mysterious. Her goal is for every student to leave class with the skills they need to finish the project in front of them and use those same techniques again on future projects.

Machines, and What Happens After You Buy One
Learning is a lot easier when your machine is working properly and when you are not afraid to use it. Be Sew Bizzy is an authorized Pfaff dealer offering sales, service, and practical hands-on support.
Most dealers consider the sale the finish line. Be Sew Bizzy doesn’t. After you buy a machine here, Betty stays involved — with training, troubleshooting, and real guidance so that a new machine becomes something you actually use and love, not something that collects dust while you wonder if you made the right choice. That kind of after-sale support is genuinely rare in this industry, and it is one of the things Be Sew Bizzy customers come back for.
The same approach applies to machines you already own. Whether you bought it somewhere else, inherited it, or just haven’t touched it in a while, Be Sew Bizzy can help you get comfortable with it and figure out what it is actually capable of.
The feel of the shop is simple: come as you are.
You do not have to know everything. You do not have to be perfect. You do not have to pretend you understand your machine when you do not. Be Sew Bizzy is expert but not intimidating, with real teaching, real encouragement, and a strong belief that sewing and embroidery should be fun, creative, and possible.
On many days, visitors are also greeted by Lily, our friendly shop dog and unofficial welcome committee.
